Binibini no. 10 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is the new Miss Universe-Philippines titleholder. She has taken the Bb. Pilipinas-Universe title at the Binibining Pilipinas Grand Coronation Night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum a few minutes before midnight on March 15, 2015.
The 25-year old model, make-up artist and a culinary arts graduate, was born in September 24, 1989 at Germany but resides in Cagayan De oro. Beating other thirty-three contestants from across the country, she was also awarded as the Miss Creamsilk and this was her third time joining in the competition.
More commonly known as Pia Romero as her screen name in the Star Magic contract, stands five feet and seven inches tall. She has been representing the products of Avon for five years as the Face of Avon Teen while also appearing as cover model in the fashion magazines. She also appears on various television shows including Maalaala Mo Kaya, It Might Be You, Love Spell, Home Along Da Riles, Wowowee. Klasmeyts, Your Song, ASAP fanatic, Princess Sarah, Bora, Sa Piling Mo, Yes Yes Show, Tara Tena, Wansapanataym, Star Magic Presents as among others. She also appears in movies like the All About Love and Kung Ako Nalang Sana.
Obviously, Wurtzbach was one of the pageant crowd's favorite as they set off a wave of applause after she answered the question in the Q&A portion. Her prestigious question was asked by Rep. Leni Robredo about her thoughts on Internet censorship. “I think that we should be careful with what we post online especially our thoughts and our opinions that we don’t hurt anybody,” she said. “Especially selfies, we have to be careful with what we post, especially with our bodies and our faces. So always think before you click," was the answer of Bb. Pilipinas 2015.
Now in its 52nd edition, Bb. Pilipinas is the longest-running and most prestigious beauty pageant in the country. It chooses the country’s representatives to major international beauty contests. Pia will compete at the 64th Miss Universe pageant following Miss Universe-Philippines MJ Lastimosa’s controversial stint early this year.
